Buddy was a neglected dog chained 24/365 among a mount of trash. He was found by a kind neighbor. This neighbor contacted the owner. After days of persuasion, the owner gave up the dog at a price with an oath that he would never have a dog again, which was mediated by CARE (a Korean rescue group). Then Buddy was sent to us.

Buddy is a good natured dog with dignity. He is a little aloof to strangers. It took a few days for him to open up and shows his loving nature to us. He was not used to human touch judging from his reaction during grooming. Now he loves to sit and cuddled by you. We think he will be okay with small children too.

Buddy is friendly to other dogs. But with males, he may engage in light fights to establish hierarchy. Even once it is set, he will do gestures to make sure he is the top dog, such as putting his head over the shoulder/back or mock-biting the shoulder/back/hips. It could cause fights, if the other male dog does not take it nicely. With females, he constantly asks them out. Once a friendship is settled, Buddy plays really well with both males and females. He is energetic but not excessively.

Buddy is on a quiet side with dignity. He is not rambunctious. He is at a stage going into a matured adulthood, graduating adolescence. He seems to have a strong protection instinct; he runs toward and barks at the mailman a lot. It might have to something to do with his background (growing up chained).

Buddy knows “sit” and “wait”. He is pretty good at them actually. He won’t jump at you to snatch treats of other dogs. During meal time, Buddy eats whatever he get, then he visits the other’s dish. This has continued even with corrections. Thus he is separated during meal time. Buddy has no leash training. He pulls really hard to go to places to wish to explore. We have not started leash training yet. The progress will be posted on instagram.

Buddy is a marker. He marks both in the yard and indoors. It has been 2 weeks since his neutering. The frequency was already reduced a lot. But he still marks occasionally indoors, not to mention in the yard. He way mark more in a new surroundings.

Buddy is pretty good during driving with no motion sickness. He was with a manner band during driving so far.

Buddy before rescue. Buddy was neglected but was not abused. His owner cared for Buddy but did not want to spend money for his neutering or purchasing heartworm preventive or improving his living conditions. This is very common in a country side of Korea. A good neighbor found Buddy in this terrible condition and paid the owner to give up Buddy with a promise not to keep a dog in future. This good neighbor contacted [with sapsaree] for fostering and finding a home for Buddy.

Happy Buddy, taken right after the grooming (by a pair of scissors) at the foster home

Buddy was a very nice dog, friendly and goofy.

Buddy used to watch his foster mom, if she was engaged in her own thing.
